WHAT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR

We have solid info that the following updates are to be released on USC "VERY SOON" OTA:

(Sooner than the "Coming Months" killjoy)

Ice Cream Sandwich - Galaxy S2

blogentry-3240-0-40440700-1353005686_thu

Jelly Bean - Galaxy S3

blogentry-3240-0-92938000-1353005686_thu

Multi-Window Display - Note 2

blogentry-3240-0-31835400-1353005687_thu

In addition to these, VERY welcomed updates, the Electrify M will also be getting an OTA update (some already did) to fix the PRL issue.

-this will be updated as soon as info comes in - IF info comes sooner than the update,

Do I have to go thru all that if I'm rooted but not running a custom rom?

No, all you have to do is flash the LG1 - via Odin or Mobile Odin, then you're on LG1 without root. Just do the OTA updates to LI4 - then sit tight and wait for JB.

As for me, I'll wait till the official launch - then unroot and OTA to the newest. Then it's a waiting game to see if the toolkit will root it on 4.1.

This will be a JB ROM with Touchwiz specifically made for the USCC version of the phone. Some people don't like Touchwiz. I do.

pardon me, but why is this big news if devs have been making jb roms for quite some time now?

Some have no idea os desire to root as well aka the majority users they sell to. That's why this is huge for them. :)

My prediction is the week after Thanksgiving… They will focus on pricing next week and then start the update process. They will try to use the update as a "selling point" like usual as well… Good luck to them.

How isn't this big news? Roms can be buggy, cause more issues than they solve, and aren't "all-user" friendly. This is an official update, from USC, not a developer of custom roms. It's stable, more stable than roms (we hope). For the 99% of users with a GS3 that DON'T like to mod their phones, this is absolutely huge.

while i do suppose all the arguments for this being huge news, i don't fully grasp why still?

i mean, don't people who usually go on forums and such looking for updates and what-not, tend to "mess" with their device or equipment?

its not like this is purely a news site that is simply stating "USCC customers will be getting a JB device..." its a site where people can find mucho info on their "regional" carrier's phone and how to do various things with/to it.

touchwiz on the S3 is/was a huge improvement over the way it was on the mesmerize, but not quite what i needed. i guess i was just too used to and comfortable with cyanogen/aokp/AOSP roms from me mesmerize. i tried to like it, i really did, and i suppose most of the reason for me going with CM10 was the familiarity with the thing.

its cool though, i'm not trying to bash on anyone's parade here. the wife's one of those people that doesn't want the phone messed with for whatever her reasons are.

Disappointed the S2 is only getting ICS... I love Google Now and dont like touchwz, but I would rather go stock than custom for the sake of stability...

I am disappointed that we still don't have 4.1.2 on the E2 yet. The second biggest part of the reason I got the E2 is because of Google owning Motorola and the fact that I expected to get regular updates. I get updates all the time on my Xoom, and am already up to 4.1.2 on it, but still stuck on 4.0.4 on the E2.

I've been "poking the bear" with USC and samsung every day. Just keep asking when it will come out, but I KEEP getting stonewalled.

I got the same thing from them today on their twitter feed.

I noticed on the Samsung website they have a new user manual for the R760 dated 11/14/12. I downloaded it and it lists the OS as 4.0.4. Hopefully they release the update this week.

I have stopped carrying at this point. I am so sick of hearing "it's coming soon". Sorry USCC......6 - 8 months after you announce an upgrade is NOT soon. With the manual posted we are still probably looking at an upgrade after the 1st of the year.

I don't think that USCC ever announced the Jelly Bean update, it has just been "rumored" as to the release date. As far as the 4.04 that you listed it has been available for about 3 months now if not longer so it's no new news. I do wish people would quit putting things on here to "hype" the update, when it arrives it arrives, that's all!! Me... talking. :-)

Just for kicks I asked about the update on the uscc Facebook page and they didn't even respond lol. I really wish they would hurry up with releasing ICS

Can someone tell me where this solid info is coming from so I can start begging them for the update as well? I am so sick of being stuck on Gingerbread and it will be at least another 6-8 months before I have enough belief points to upgrade the next available line on my plan...
