  1. Anyone know if the new Moto X4 can be activated with U.S. Cellular? Thanks.
  2. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

That's kind of what I was thinking, as far as the "roaming". In my area, USCC is still the best, but if we go south on a day trip or whatever, it's spotty, as far as data, and some calls, so it seems it would almost have to be better, in some respects.
  3. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

I was looking at their plans/prices the other day, and saw that deal. Makes it very tempting. The ONLY reason I haven't just done it, is I'm not super thrilled to switch from my Pure to one of these. But my wife wants a different phone, so.....might just get one and activate it on USCC, since it appears it is possible. Just not sure yet.
  4. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Which version did you get, by the way? They have an Android One version, obviously for Project Fi. And I'm assuming they have a non Android One version, but the Motorola site shows the X4 working with Project Fi, so I'm assuming they're all the same, essentially.
  5. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Thanks for the confirmation. Probably going to do that, unless we just switch to Project Fi, and both get an X4. I don't really want to give up my Pure, but might.
  6. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

I just now noticed the second post, on the third page, where the person says they activated it, simply by saying they got a different phone, and telling them the IMEI. I message that person, asking if it's still working fine, hopefully I'll hear back.
  7. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

I know this is an older topic, but I looked into Project Fi, and apparently, according to their coverage maps, we'd get 4GLTE in our area. U.S. Cellular still has the best overall coverage in our immediate area, but not so great when we go on day trips to the bay area and whatnot, so maybe that's where the Spring and T Mobile towers would make it better? We're not data hogs with our phones, and right now, are grandfathered into a 6GB plan, that is much more than we normally use, and cheaper than the unlimited plans they now have. That said, Project Fi would be cheaper for us, unless there was a month where we used more data, but highly unlikely. My wife hates her S7, but tghe Pure is a huge phone, and with her carpal tunnel, it's not ideal. She's close to willing to try it one more time, to get the simplicity of the Pure. And, it's just a good phone! My only slight issue, is that now I'm used to my Pure, even in the Otterbox Defender series case, haha. Going to the Moto X 4, wouldn't be a bad thing....just that it's closer to the size of the old Moto X first generation. For my wife, it would be about the same as her S7, which would be great for her. We may do it, but I sure wish I could simply activate a Moto X 4 just on U.S. Cellular, even if it took saying it was a Pure. Of course, if it causes issues, then no point, obviously. That would be ideal......she gets a smaller Moto X, and I stay with my Pure.
  8. My wife and I have always been loyal to Motorola, simply becaiuse we've always been happy with their phones. We both had the first gen Moto X, which we both liked, and when mine started having issues, I went to the Pure, which I still use. The Pure is too big for my wife, especially because she has carpal tunnel, and it is just annoying. She settled for the Samsung S7, and I know it's a good phone, but she misses the simplicity of the Moto X, which I still have with my Pure. U.S. Cellular has the Moto E Plus, 4th Generation, on their site, and so I figured an unlocked one would work as well. It seems like a decent phone, and a little smaller than the Pure, so as far as size, it may work for her. I can save a little money on an unlocked one, but wanted to check here first. Thanks, in advance!
  9. Now I'm confused. Someone else told US Cellular uses bands 5 & 12 for LTE both of which this phone is compatible with using. But then the Motorola compatibility chart says no, but they sell it.
  10. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Interesting. Good info. Thanks. I still may just buy another Pure. They're around here and there, brand new. I really like the simplicity of it, and have a much greater appreciation after seeing the crap that my wife has on her Samsung S7. We've been Motorola fans since our first cell phones, for a reason. It's my wife's first non Motorola phone, and she doesn't like it at all.
  11. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

And thank you as well. Going to research all this!
  12. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Thank you for that explanation. I will definitely look into it. I'm thinking more for my wife, as she does not like her bloatware filled S7, and would rather have a Motorola anything. We've always been loyal to Motorola, but the Pure was just too big for her, mostly due to her carpal tunnel. We're on a family plan, but I will look into that. We don't use a ton of data, so it might be a viable option. I'm having a speaker issue with my Pure right now, that isn't a huge issue, but have my eyes open for a decent deal on another Pure. I love that phone. I'd consider the X4 myself, if it's a smart move to go with the Project Fi.
  13. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Gotcha. I went back and looked at his reply again, and I may have missed his edit, where he said might be able to activate it as a Pure. Interesting, and worth keeping an eye on, for sure. And I appreciate the input from both of you. So if I'm following this correctly, I have to have an Android one version of the X4, and sign up with Project FI, essentially, correct?
  14. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

So this is something you have to sign up for? I'm ok with that, if it works, but ideally, I was hoping I can simply activate the X4 with USCC.
  15. Moto X4 compatible with U.S. Cellular

Mind if I ask what Project Fi is?
  16. I love my Moto X Pure, and it's having a volume issue, where when the phone volume is all the way up, and I tap my finger on the back, it goes up louder. Thinking it's a short or something. Keeping my eyes open for another new one, but they're hard to find, without an outrageous price. Anyway......what is a newer unlocked Motorola that is just as good? Thanks, in advance!
  17. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

Yes, I was noticing that. Still seems like a decent phone, but a slight downgrade for sure. It might be a good phone for my wife, as she couldn't care less, as long as it works, haha. She like her 2013 Moto X, and she tried the Pure as a replacement, but with her carpal tunnel and whatnot, just didn't like the size. The S7 she has is ok, as far as size, but they have a lot of crap on there that simply annoys her. She liked the simplicity of the Moto X, and I get that with the Pure, and it sounds like this X4 would be similar, being unlocked and all. Hopefully. And this is in between the Moto X and the Pure. And seems to be thinner too.
  18. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

    Thanks for that info.

  20. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

I'm not exactly sure what to look for, but if the Moto X4 is an unlocked phone, will it work on USCC?
  21. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

Yes, good idea. And, I don't need a lot of storage on my phone. But it says the 64GB version has 4GB of Ram, as opposed to 2GB, on the 32GB version, so maybe still worth the extra $50.
  22. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

phalkon30, about a dozen posts back. or so, said his wife went from a G4 to a G5+. But I will look into it a bit more.
  23. Good equivalent of the Moto X Pure

Haha.....I think we posted at the same time, again! This one should work then? Sounds like it's my only good choice, if I don't find a decent price on another Pure, that is new.
