  1. S4 Screen Replacement?

I thought that post seemed sketchy, but good call anyway! I didn't even check out that website... I don't think I trust a website that doesn't end in a .com haha.

They're still going to give you a refurbished screen with doo-dooty glass. For 200 you could get a much newer sammie in good condition. You're right. At this point, I really don't think I'll get my money back, as much as I want to, since the "new" screen they gave me doesn't have any burn in or issues really. I think I'll just deal with it until a new phone I really want comes out, which will hopefully be a new Nexus. One good thing that came of this situation is that I know what to do the next time something happens to my phone now. Just looking at the bright side haha. Are you sure man? I used to work for a cell phone repair company(can't name them because of ongoing litigation filed by them against me, long story) last year who delt in counterfeit parts and they wouldn't hesitate to refund if someone got just slightly suspicious of their wrongdoing. Battery Plus isn't even an authorized Samsung service center so they probably voided your warranty as well. I would try getting a refund, I bet they'll cooperate if you mention the BBB. I did point out that the part was not an official Samsung part and they admitted to it, so I'm not so sure that they would readily refund me for that reason. I think you have really good points, though. I'll think it over this week since I'm out of town and I might try to get a refund when I get back. I think you're right, if I bother them enough, I could most likely get a refund. My phone is way over a year old so my warranty was long gone anyway haha.

  4. S4 Screen Replacement?

Thanks for the input everyone! I am going to give them one more chance to replace my screen tomorrow. I took it in Tuesday and the replacement for the replacement was dead, ironically. If the next screen they put in is just as bad, I will ask for my money back. I'm not sure if they would take the screen out and give me my money back if I asked for a refund or what. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Yeah, I realize now that I should have explored my options before I replaced the screen, but it's too late for the better options now.

Parts won't wear down, you can take phones apart an infinite amount of times and as long as you aren't ripping connectors or breaking off resistors you'll be fine. The screen you received was very likely refurbished, which means it was pulled from another phone, the glass was was separated from the LCD(they're fused at the factory with optically clear adhesive) and they then laminated a cheap piece of glass to the AMOLED display. Because the LCD was likely previously used, that would be the reason for the burn-in. Honestly I would just buy a new screen at this point and install it yourself, the screen will run you like $70-90. Good to know. I am leaning towards replacing the screen myself at this point. Thanks for the offer! I really appreciate it, but I definitely don't trust myself to replace just the glass haha!

They are willing to replace the screen again, it just won't be the Samsung quality that I want. That's my issue. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance so I'm out of luck there. I think I'll talk to the people at Batteries Plus and see if they can do anything for me at this point. It'll be tough to ask for a refund with the screen still in my phone, but I guess it's worth a shot! Do you know if I would I have to send it out to Samsung if I had U.S. Cellular do it?
  8. S4 Screen Replacement?

So I am in a bit of a predicament and I'm looking for your advice. My phone screen got broken on Thursday. I kind of panicked and took it to Batteries Plus to get the screen replaced. $200 later and it turns out they didn't even use a Samsung part (no logo). It has burn in, on top of it. I want to buy an OEM screen and replace the screen that's in my phone now. I can get the screen replaced again by Batteries Plus, but I don't want to take my phone apart three times because I would think that the parts would begin to wear down. I also don't think I will get my money back at this point. What do you guys think I should do? Buy another screen and try to replace it myself, see if a store will use the part I provide for them and replace the screen for me, or just get a new phone? I still really like my S4, which is why I have put this money into it. Also, this is my first post so I apologize if I didn't post in the right spot.
