And all 3 items are HTC. All three will be running Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS. The most current Android OS available now. 2. [caption id=attachment_519" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="voice mail to text][url=""> US Cellular has decided to postpone it's voicemail to text launch date because of issues that are beyond their control. US Cellular users will be notified in the when the service will be launched. USCC is still excited about this feature. So, lets see what happen.
  3. US Cellular has entered a partnership with Roam Data for a mobile point of sale (POS) system. So what does this do for USCC? It gives USCC a way for it's customers to sell products and service on the go. The software is called Roampay X. It gives customers a POS terminal and payment function on a mobile phone. Currently, the software is not available on any phone now. But, the Blackberry Curve 2 8530 and HTC Merge will be available soon. Source:
  4. [caption id=attachment_431" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Gingerbread][url=""> You got a new phone and you like the features and how it works. Then there is a issue. What do you do? See if there is an update for the phone. But, it took awhile for the update to come. What issues will the update have? Most of the issues you had were fixed but not all. Then there was another update. Great! I hope there is a fix to an issue I still have. So, you upgrade the phone again to find "YES, IT IS FIXED". That is how I felt about the Gingerbread upgrade. The Froyo upgrade had some updates that fixed some of the issues but not all. The Gingerbread update fixed the rest of the issues and added some new features too. I just upgraded my Samsung Mesmerize to Gingerbread and so far, it is working great for me. GB made some improvements and fixed some bug issue. Here is a list of features: New notification icons and menu enhancements. Android added themes and colors to menus that make it look more vivid as well as notification icons that look clean and cut. This makes the screen much easier to look at. New keyboard layout and features. This was done to make it easier and faster to text on the screen. It can now help correct words that are spelled wrong. Also, a multi-touch feature to enter numbers and symbols easier rather than using the shift button to do it. Easier copy and paste function. You can now press on a word, select it, then adjust the length on what you want copy by moving the arrows on both ends of the words, then copy. Improved power management. A quick shortcut was added in Settings. This shortcut gives you an estimation on how long the battery will last, what apps are running, and how long it has been used. New ways to communicate and organize to others. A way to use a SIP accounts for internet calling was added and you can now use (Near-field-communication). You can now choose front or rear camera to take photos or videos. New Developers features to make apps. New gaming enhancements, new ways to communicate, and more rich multimedia. US Cellular had first made the upgrade available on their website on Monday, Aug. 29. But, later in the morning it was removed. Tech support told me: "There was an issue on the link for the upgrade and they're working hard to fix it". There are two way to upgrade the phone. One, from the website with a software download. Secondly, go to the tech center to do the upgrade. The website will take some time to be up and running so the best option is to go to a tech center to upgrade the phone. Make sure to backup all your media and contacts before you upgrade. I hope this helps you decide whether to upgrade now or later. So, if you are a techie like me, get it now. If you are not and there are no issue with your phone, you can wait for awhile.
