  1. OK thanks. Sorry for the additional question but these two phones already have separate Sim cards installed. The one I'd like to put back on line was being used up until a week ago. I needed to put in a new battery so my wife got another iPhone 5,this one being a 5s,from her sister. She brought it to a US cellular store and had it activated. She thought she would just keep using it but she says the speaker is bad AND there was stuff like music and pintrest that didn't get moved over so she wants the old one back. I changed the battery and it works fine. Does the fact that they have separate Sims matter? Thank you. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  2. Is there anything else I need to do to get a backup iphone activated. My wife has two iPhone 5's. One is a plain and one is a 5s.. She wants to deactivate the 5s and put the 5 back on. Both are us cellular phones. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  3. I had to guess I'd say it's an agreement "clause" that fi uses t-mobile as a "go-to". After my previous post I went to the fi switch app and forced us cellular and got 3 of 5 bars Immediately. Prior to switching, as is often the case when I'm home, the strength meter was searching for a signal. This is about my only beef with Google fi. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  4. She will be switching to Google fi. The plan and price will be much better. In my area I really don't see a huge difference in coverage. Fi is a little better because I can force switch carriers. If I don't force switch the phone is generally not on the strongest signal at home. As I type this I have no signal at all so I bet it's on T mobile. I'll switch to US cellular and get back to LTE Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  5. I have a pixel 2 on Google fi and am very happy with it. My wife has an old iPhone that will soon be replaced. I'm curious if I should wait for the Pixel 3? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  6. Have you tried an app called fiswitch? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  7. My wife has an iPhone 5 that is giving problems. My daughter had an iPhone 6 that she cracked the screen on again. She went to get a new phone and I told her to get her own account which she did. I repaired the iPhone 6 and am transferring the data from her 5 to the 6. I've muddled through putting iTunes on my windows 7 laptop and restored a backup of her 5 onto her 6. The photos don't sync so I've been trying to do this without success. Somehow iTunes grabs the "my pictured" folder from my laptop and puts them on the iPhone. I delete them and try to change the folder for the photos. When I chose the folder that has the photos from the 5 itunes shows "0 photos". I have looked all over for a fix so I'm here asking if anyone has advice. Fwiw I see that the folders for photo files, (I know the photos are not backed up but the compacted photo data) are all read-only and I have not been able to change this attribute. Short of using the attrib command I've tried all I know to try. I have ownership of the folders etc. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  8. Will do. Thanks again. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  9. I don't know. I may look into it but it seems like Google is doing a good job of making sure that ads are going to be seen. I've been trying to find a way to get rid of those ads that make you wait 5 seconds and it's a dead end so far. I've actually never had good luck with the YouTube app so I always went through a browser. Right now I'm using Chrome but I will likely be looking for another browser too. Thanks
  10. Thanks -I got them working. Much appreciated.
  11. I don't see anything remotely resembling app or media manager? I can certainly understand folks liking the way Google can accommodate synching of various devices. More people probably like this than don't if I had to guess. It's just a personal thing that I don't want this convenience. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks. I'm slowly "customizing" the phone. I installed 8sms but couldn't get it to send pictures. I think it's something to do with one or more mms settings and I don't have the nerve to change these right now. I also wanted some ringtones on this new phone and was able to get them copied but can't get them to appear in the ringtones selection. I got my call ring tone but others like messages and voice mails don't show in the available selections. I'll muddle through until the interest dies. I've found that using wifi file transfer is a good way to transfer files between the two phones. I'm also realizing that Google loves being in other people's business. I don't need my crap synced between devices and I hate having to opt out of the Myriad of choices in Chrome. I thought I'd like the chrome browser but it's just way too intrusive IMO. I also use YouTube a lot and can't stand the ads and the suggested videos. I didn't have this problem with my old phone. I imagine this is all part of getting a new phone and "training" the apps and/or sites to my preference. Thanks for the help. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. I would like to be able to use the "old style" versions of: Tapatalk Instagram Swiftkey Phone These are the apps I use most often. I already moved to the Nova launcher so I could get the same exact look as my old S4. Thanks
  14. Thanks for the warning. I would think an older version of an app would not install if it was not compatible with a new OS?? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  15. OK. I installed nova and got the 7null icons and wallpaper I previously had. I'm also going to try and install the older versions of the most used apps. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
