  1. I have a pixel 2 on Google fi and am very happy with it. My wife has an old iPhone that will soon be replaced. I'm curious if I should wait for the Pixel 3? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  2. Is there anything else I need to do to get a backup iphone activated. My wife has two iPhone 5's. One is a plain and one is a 5s.. She wants to deactivate the 5s and put the 5 back on. Both are us cellular phones. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  3. OK thanks. Sorry for the additional question but these two phones already have separate Sim cards installed. The one I'd like to put back on line was being used up until a week ago. I needed to put in a new battery so my wife got another iPhone 5,this one being a 5s,from her sister. She brought it to a US cellular store and had it activated. She thought she would just keep using it but she says the speaker is bad AND there was stuff like music and pintrest that didn't get moved over so she wants the old one back. I changed the battery and it works fine. Does the fact that they have separate Sims matter? Thank you. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  4. I had to guess I'd say it's an agreement "clause" that fi uses t-mobile as a "go-to". After my previous post I went to the fi switch app and forced us cellular and got 3 of 5 bars Immediately. Prior to switching, as is often the case when I'm home, the strength meter was searching for a signal. This is about my only beef with Google fi. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  5. She will be switching to Google fi. The plan and price will be much better. In my area I really don't see a huge difference in coverage. Fi is a little better because I can force switch carriers. If I don't force switch the phone is generally not on the strongest signal at home. As I type this I have no signal at all so I bet it's on T mobile. I'll switch to US cellular and get back to LTE Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  6. Have you tried an app called fiswitch? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  7. My wife has an iPhone 5 that is giving problems. My daughter had an iPhone 6 that she cracked the screen on again. She went to get a new phone and I told her to get her own account which she did. I repaired the iPhone 6 and am transferring the data from her 5 to the 6. I've muddled through putting iTunes on my windows 7 laptop and restored a backup of her 5 onto her 6. The photos don't sync so I've been trying to do this without success. Somehow iTunes grabs the "my pictured" folder from my laptop and puts them on the iPhone. I delete them and try to change the folder for the photos. When I chose the folder that has the photos from the 5 itunes shows "0 photos". I have looked all over for a fix so I'm here asking if anyone has advice. Fwiw I see that the folders for photo files, (I know the photos are not backed up but the compacted photo data) are all read-only and I have not been able to change this attribute. Short of using the attrib command I've tried all I know to try. I have ownership of the folders etc. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  8. Will do. Thanks again. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  9. I got a new pixel 2 and I'm not liking the new versions of the apps. Ideally I'd like to have this new phone look and operate just like the old Samsung galaxy S4 that I replaced. Sorry for such a newbie question. Any advice is appreciated. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  10. I don't know. I may look into it but it seems like Google is doing a good job of making sure that ads are going to be seen. I've been trying to find a way to get rid of those ads that make you wait 5 seconds and it's a dead end so far. I've actually never had good luck with the YouTube app so I always went through a browser. Right now I'm using Chrome but I will likely be looking for another browser too. Thanks
  11. Thanks -I got them working. Much appreciated.
  12. I don't see anything remotely resembling app or media manager? I can certainly understand folks liking the way Google can accommodate synching of various devices. More people probably like this than don't if I had to guess. It's just a personal thing that I don't want this convenience. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks. I'm slowly "customizing" the phone. I installed 8sms but couldn't get it to send pictures. I think it's something to do with one or more mms settings and I don't have the nerve to change these right now. I also wanted some ringtones on this new phone and was able to get them copied but can't get them to appear in the ringtones selection. I got my call ring tone but others like messages and voice mails don't show in the available selections. I'll muddle through until the interest dies. I've found that using wifi file transfer is a good way to transfer files between the two phones. I'm also realizing that Google loves being in other people's business. I don't need my crap synced between devices and I hate having to opt out of the Myriad of choices in Chrome. I thought I'd like the chrome browser but it's just way too intrusive IMO. I also use YouTube a lot and can't stand the ads and the suggested videos. I didn't have this problem with my old phone. I imagine this is all part of getting a new phone and "training" the apps and/or sites to my preference. Thanks for the help. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  14. I would like to be able to use the "old style" versions of: Tapatalk Instagram Swiftkey Phone These are the apps I use most often. I already moved to the Nova launcher so I could get the same exact look as my old S4. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the warning. I would think an older version of an app would not install if it was not compatible with a new OS?? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  16. OK. I installed nova and got the 7null icons and wallpaper I previously had. I'm also going to try and install the older versions of the most used apps. Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  17. My old phone was a dark theme with dark, transparent icons from 7null. These don't work with the launcher. Any ideas as to how to how I can get these to work? Thanks Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  18. My galaxy s4 has about soiled the Sealy. It's been randomly powering off for months and I've been dreading the idea of having to screw with getting a new phone. I've put it off this long because I wanted to wait for the new pixel. Now that it's out I am pretty sure I'll be buying one although I may also consider the older pixel. Seems like the old pixel is only $100.00 less than the 2 which isn't enough of a savings IMOPO. I'm pretty much going with this phone so that I can move to the FI project at some point. I'm OK with USC for now but I'm down to 3 phones on my plan and none in contract. Soon I'll be down to just two phones and this is when I'll look more closely at the fi deal. Whats the best place to buy (not over time/finance) this phone? I'm also curious if they all come with preloaded bloat? Seems like those purchased through cellular providers have a large amount of bloat so I'm wondering if they all do? Thanks for any advice. Galaxy S4, Slimkat If I wasn't married I'd quit fishing
  19. I got my pixel 2. The data transfer using the cables doesn't work. I think the OS on my S4 is too old. I'll try wifi file xfer. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

  21. O DP2

Did these troubles occur ONLY after an update? I have a new pixel 2 coming and I really don't want problems. Thanks Galaxy S4, Slimkat If I wasn't married I'd quit fishing
  22. Pixel 2?

I ordered an unlocked pixel 2 64mb a half hour ago. Takes 3 weeks to get?? Stupid. I'm impatient and Google should know this [emoji3]. I looked into a 128 version but thought the extra $100.00 wasn't worth it. Galaxy S4, Slimkat If I wasn't married I'd quit fishing
  23. Really? That's interesting but I imagine most carriers will charge some sort of fee if the SIM card is used. I don't know if VZN is using the SIM slot or the eSIM? My guess is they are using the SIM slot.
  24. OK - thanks for clearing that up for me. I had a feeling this was the case but didn't know how to best phrase the question without proving myself a bigger dumbass than I've already shown myself to be. [emoji16] Hopefully a root method will come along. I think rooting might open some of the best options for saving battery. It sure did with this old S4 I'm using. I suspect I'll get a hair one night this week and order one from Google. I'd like to first decide if I'm going to jump to fi because I'd like to order the phone and set up my account at the same time IF I decide to move my personal phone to Google. It's a lot of money for me but it seems that all the new phones are costing $500.00+ to purchase so I guess it will suck now or suck even more later when my current phone is totally inoperable. 25. I'm still confused regarding the locked pixel 2. I'm getting the feeling that a pixel 2, whether a Verizon or Google fi version, cannot be moved to another carrier once activated on either one? So this phone is a single carrier phone? Yet I see one post here that intimates this is not the case? (#6) Galaxy S4, Slimkat If I wasn't married I'd quit fishing
