  1. Still Have N6?

Still using my N6 as my daily driver, and still loving it! An occasional slow launch of camera or other app, but otherwise, it's great. I'm waiting to see what the new Pixels will be, if they're any good, I may upgrade. Also still using & loving my Nexus 9.
  2. Outage?

I got to work a couple of hours ago, and noticed my phone showed 3G instead of LTE, so I called my local store and asked about it. He said there was an outage in another part of the state...also suggested it could be high demand on the towers from a local event. He said to try *228, which I did, and that worked.
  3. Just got my security update installed on my N6, which changed my 5.1.1 from LMY47Z to LMY48I. Android Police has links to various device updates at http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/08/11/links-for-nexus-4-5-6-and-10-ota-updates-incoming-for-all-nexus-devices-to-fix-stagefright-vulnerability/
  4. Lollipop 5.1.1 Released For Nexus 6

    I just got 5.1.1 on my N6...
  5. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung announced two versions of the Galaxy S6, one will be the Edge. They also announced that both versions will be available on the big four carriers, as well as US Cellular, in April. 6. US Cellular Lowers Shared Plan Prices

This doesn't affect me, since I'm still hanging on to my old individual Belief plan, but this is good to know... http://www.cnet.com/news/u-s-cellular-shakes-up-prices-for-shared-data-plans/
  7. Billing glitch

I got my latest billing email a week ago, and noticed the amount that was being auto-paid was $10 more than usual. Just had a chance to go online and check my account. Looks like, other than the many odd fees and taxes, that under the Discounts, where my 15% military discount and the 5% paperless discount is listed, they have CR (credit) next to the 5% amount, but nothing next to the military discount, which is around $9, so it ended up bumping up my bill. As crazy bad as that website is, I wanted to print the bill out so that I'd have it ready to show the local store rep, but it took me forever to find how to do that, a little link buried at the bottom of the page amongst a couple dozen other links! So I click to view the pdf version, but guess what, I get a blank page that says "Your bill is not currently available to view in pdf format. Please try again at a later time!". ugh! I can't believe they're STILL having problems with this crappy system! grrrrr end of rant...for now
  8. After coming home from an out-of-town trip last night, both my Nexus 6 and 7 (2012) got the OTA upate. First did the N6, the "Waiting to download" screen hung for about 10 minutes, then finally went through the motion. I waited to do the update for N7 when I went to bed, but the "Waiting to download" screen stayed on for a long time, longer than 30 minutes. I fell asleep waiting for it! So when I woke up this morning, I finished the update. weird. Edit: Still waiting for 5.1 on my new Nexus 9
  9. Nexus 9 vs Galaxy Tab S 10.5

Oh, I'm so glad this question was asked (and answered) since I, too, am looking to upgrade to a new tablet. I've had my Nexus 7 for a while, but it is getting laggy and often can't connect to my home wifi. Thanks!
  10. Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Coming To US Cellular

I don't blame you for being apprehensive, I've dealt with the bloat myself on the S2, S3, and Note 2. And yeah, Samsung was (pretty much) the last bastion of manufacturers with removable batteries and SD card slots. Hopefully the paring down of apps will leave more space for the user's stuff, and more efficient on the battery life. My Note 2 had great battery life, never needed to swap it out. I think the S6 looks pretty sexy, don't know about the Edge version...I'll wait until my local store gets them in, and go check them out. I *just* got my Nexus 6, so I doubt I'll be switching over/back to Samsung right now.
  11. Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Coming To US Cellular

I just noticed that they are already on US Cellular's website: http://www.uscellular.com/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s6.html I agree with Zenzr, apparently Samsung has toned down the bloatware and UI for these phones. I watch Leo Laporte on the TWiT.tv network, and he has always ranted on Samsung and their bloated phones, but lately he has been pretty happy with what they are doing.
  12. Alarm sound files

I use the built in alarm almost every day to get me up for work in the morning. On the Nexus 6, the choices of alarm sounds are meh, so I wanted to copy a few of the Samsung alarm sounds over. Using dropbox, I got a couple of the sound files saved to the internal SD card in a folder named Alarm, but the files don't show up in the selection list when I go to change the alarm sound. In fact, it won't give me the option to use other. I tried to copy (and move) the files using ES File Explorer to the system/media/audio/alarms folder where the stock sounds are located, but it fails every time! Here's the error: Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Or why it doesn't know to look at the Alarm folder on the SD card?
  13. Alarm sound files

I was finally able to get the phone/Lollipop to see the added sound files. I connected the phone via USB to my PC, then copied over all the ringtones, alarms, notifications to their respective folders (in the sdcard directory), overwriting the ones I already moved using ES File Explorer. I then disconnected and rebooted the phone, and now am given those new files as choices when setting sounds. Also, I noticed when I connected the phone to my PC, it only showed me the sdcard folder, no way to see system files (for unrooted phone)
  14. Roaming Indicator Off

Had you flashed the zip I posted?Sorry, no, I must have missed that. Will check it out later thanks
  15. Alarm sound files

To be clear... you can't copy files to that location unless you are rooted. Also, you say you are trying to change the sound on the alarm itself (which I believe is the only way) and don't have any options? I have several options for it, it's labeled as default ringtone.I copied a FLAC file to the alarms folder on my sdcard and it shows up and plays normally. Perhaps the problem is with the file or the ogg format? OK, I wondered if I needed to be rooted. But I was able to do it on my unrooted Note 2. When I tap on the alarm sound in the alarm settings, I get a list of a dozen sound names (the ones that came with the device) but it doesn't give an "other" choice to add your own, like some other phones. The sound I'm trying to add is also an OGG file. I just don't understand why it's not seeing the sound folder on the SD card. Thanks for your replies
  16. Alarm sound files

Hm, not sure what RW is, so I guess not. Maybe I need to be rooted?
  17. Roaming Indicator Off

Well, I jinxed myself I guess lol! It said US Cellular for a few days (not rooted and only on 5.0.1), then I got my new case in today. I was at work, trying to take off the stiff plastic case, hard to do, and the phone sort of got stuck part ways out of the case, the edge was pressing the power button, so it ended up rebooting my phone. Once it came back on, I noticed it is once again showing 'Roaming Indicator Off'. lol! can't win.
  18. Case recommendations

I had the same issue with the buttons tough to press. The case was not properly aligned on the buttons. After I re-seated the case the buttons work very well. I still want a more protective case. Cheers. I got my new case in today. It's from Cruzerlite (on Amazon), all flexible gel-like plastic, so it feels like it's a little more protected...granted not as much as the otterbox or other ones shown above, but it's not slippery or smooth so I have better grip on the phone. Still rocks a little on a flat surface, but not as much as the previous case. Cool thing about this case is it's semi-transparent and has a techy circuit design on the back with an android.
  19. Roaming Indicator Off

Mine has shown US Cellular for a few days now.
  20. Case recommendations

I'm using this Spigen right now http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OH4HSFK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but it's very minimalist, the edges aren't very well protected, and the power/volume button openings make it tough to press. So I ordered a gel style case, and hope it has more coverage. I'm not a big fan of the curved back of the phone, so when it's on the table or desk next to me, it rocks side to side and wants to spin around when I'm trying to tap on the screen.
  21. Nexus 6 Finally on U.S. Cellular!

I did the same thing with MyBackup Pro, it was pretty easy and fast. I also tried to transfer a couple of photos from my Note 2 to the Nexus using the NFC "touch" method, but that didn't work.
  22. Nexus 6 Finally on U.S. Cellular!

I usually go black with cases but I really liker the mint color for some reason! The color is nice, but the hard plastic is smooth, so still kind of slippery, and it's minimal coverage so almost no protection in a drop. I'm looking for something with rubber around the edges and corners, like the Samsung branded one I used on my Note 2. If the main/back part is going to be smooth, I'd at least like the edges to have grippy rubber or gel. Hopefully there will be more cases coming out soon. I don't care for the super bulky transformer-looking cases lol.
  23. Nexus 6 Finally on U.S. Cellular!

Here's what I got from amazon... (it's just a screen cap, links don't work lol)
  24. Battery Life and Charging

I'm not sure what I did yesterday, where the stat drops off, maybe turned off the phone and turned it back on. I'm sure things will be closer to "normal" once I install Facebook and another email app (for work mail). Also, on my Note 2, battery usage was great until I traveled, roaming or not, then it tanked.
