  1. How come all my data gets stored to my internal memory? And how could, if possible, I switch that so it goes to my external memory? I am at the point where I get that "Insufficient Storage" popup. If anyone could help it would be appreciated.
  2. This is for the STOCK ODEXED ROM ONLY (LF9 and LG1). I've had my SIII for a couple of days now, and I hated the way TouchWiz interfered with the ICS goodness graphically on the notification bar, so... I changed it. Threw some stuff together from other ROMS (listed) because I don't know what ROMS actually work on the USCC varient. SCREEN: DO NOT FLASH WITH CWM. REQUIRES ROOT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE. STEPS: 1) Put SystemUI.apk.zip on your sdcard. 2) With Root Explorer, navigate to system/app and copy your SystemUI.apk to another part of your sdcard as a backup. I'd rename it SystemUI.bak. 3) With Root Explorer, extract SystemUI.apk.zip and click "Go to extracted" you should be left with SystemUI.apk 4) Copy the new SystemUI.apk to system/app, overwrite the old one. 4a) Fix permissions (rw-r-r) and change ownership to 0-root, 0-root. 5) Reboot and enjoy. ALTERNATE METHOD: HERE Use if the above method fails. DOWNLOAD (ICS BLUE): SystemUI.apk.zip MAGENTA (wip): DOWNLOAD (MAGENTA wip): Magenta.apk.zip Magenta.apk MUST be renamed to SystemUI.apk before replacing in your system/app folder. If you like this, and it works, please let me know. This is my FIRST attempt at themeing the SGSIII! This is pinned?!?!? Awesome! Thanks guys! 3. Thank you Chainfire for d2usc (USC SGS3) support for our device, and this app! This is nothing against Rub1Out's guide, or anyone else's on this forum. I've used their guides as well without issue. This is simply another means to get back to stock, and I'm feeling nice today. There is a this trend of users who don't know what they are doing, don't know what basic terms mean, and chances are, haven't done any reading of any kind before the attempt to root/unroot a device. Even with the guides here, the complaints are either they are "confusing" or "not enough info"...which, IMO, is untrue. I've seen users flash Verizon stock software to their USC device, load a Verizon bootloader, flash other carrier ROMs...the list goes on. If you cannot read an OP thread for directions, then you shouldn't be attempting to do what you're about to do. You should learn how to undo what you're doing BEFORE it's too late. If I say adb, ODIN, tar.md5, Android SDK, Recovery...there should be some familiarization with those terms. Just because you used a toolkit to root your phone doesn't give anyone the excuse to not know those terms. Even with a toolkit, you need to know...well...how to use the toolkit. If you are against paying for an app, then this method is NOT for you. ChainFire offers this for free, but the EverRoot option is only in the paid for version. This takes less than five minutes to do, and does not require a computer. I'm done with that thought, it could go on...and on. What you need to download ODIN .tar.md5 file for either LG4, LI4, LK5 (LK5 is the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update as of Dec 2012). NOTE: The .tar.md5 files are HUGE, 1 - 1.2 GB (LK5 is 1.2 GB)!! LK5 update, Samsung SimpleUpgraderTool: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00049096&fm_seq=53670 NOTE: The file is like 854MB. Scroll down the page and hit the big black DOWNLOAD button, located at Step 1 of the guide from the link above. Mobile Odin app from Google Play (buy it, it's more than worth it) - https://play.google....251bGwsMSwyLDNd Instructions NOTE: You need to be rooted to run Mobile Odin. I shouldn't have to say it, but I have to say it. NOTE 2: If you downloaded the .exe file from USC or Samsung, the tar.md5 file you need will be in that. You'll need to browse your computer to the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung Electronics\SimpleUpgradeTool\SCH-R530U_USCC\Binary. The Program Files (x86) folder will ONLY be there if you run a 64-bit Windows system. NOTE 3: There's two .tar.md5 files out there, if you downloaded it from Samsung, the file name will start with KIES_blahblah.tar.md5. This will NOT wipe your internal sd card. The other file name will start with COMBINATION_blahblah.tar.md5, and this WILL format internal sd!! So backup internal sd if you want to save pictures/music/other files just to be safe. You've been warned! 1. Take the tar.md5 ODIN file, and copy it to either your internal or external sd card. This is the ONLY part you'll need a computer for, and if you never delete it, you'll never need your computer again. For the love of my sanity, put it in a folder where you know it will be. I recommend external sd card and here's why: Your internal will be wiped with the official .tar.md5 for the LK5 update!!! 2. Open Mobile Odin. Grant it root access. If it asks for add-on download, turn on your wifi and say OK. 3. Scroll down to Open file..., click it, then browse to internal or external sd card based off of where you put the tar.md5 file. Select your .tar.md5 file. 4. It'll tell you what it's flashing, just hit OK. 5. THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP, SO PAY ATTENTION: If you want root, check all 3 boxes under the EverRoot heading. (Enable EverRoot, Inject SuperSU, Inject Mobile Odin). Under the Wipe heading, check Wipe data and cache and Wipe dalvik cache. What you have now is the stock USC Odin file, which will load and Mobile Odin will root it. 6. Hit Flash Firmware. Wait a couple minutes, and you'll be 100% USC Stock ROM, rooted (or not if you choose not to root). Any time you are on an AOSP ROM or any other ROM, and you want 100% stock USC, repeat steps 2 - 6. It's that simple. If rooted, from there you can flash a custom recovery, and begin the ROM flashing process or if you need to make backups of your stock rooted setup. There it is people, you cannot get any easier than this. This thread will be locked, and you can PM me if you have problems. All of the information is there, and these are the exact steps I use when I want 100% rooted/stock USC TouchWiz.
  4. We enjoy Android for what it is. Open source goodness. We're coming from Verizon with a Droid Incredible 2. Had no problems with the process of rooting and installing Cyanogenmod which we loved for zero bloatware. After all we would be just fine with android stock out of the box like god intended but for whatever reason few companies get that the customer’s liberty is paramount, not their ability to strike padded deals over drinks and golf games…not that drinks or golf games are bad, mind you. Admitedly I am pretty much a n00b and no matter how much I read (2 days now on this phone) a lot of this just doesn’t make sense. I was hoping someone here sees an inherent problem or can help me figure this out with a step by step. We're trying to get this either booting in to Cyanogenmod...or back to stock with no counts so I can take it back and just buy a friggin pantech. (kidding about the pantech btw) We’ve tried just about everything to install either the Cyanogen nightlys or the new monthly. We have root. Wiped data/Factory reset + wipe cache + wiped Dalvik Cache, install from zip a compressed file from HERE via both internal memory and SD card (formatted both ways) but we get this message every time: Installing update… Assert failed getprop(“ro.product.device”) == “ d2usc” || getprop(“ro.build.product) ==”d2usc” E:Error in /sdcard/cm-10-20121027-NIGHTLY-d2usc. Zip (Status 7) Installation aborted. CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 ODIN MODE PRODUCT NAME: SCH-R530U CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (4 Counts) CURRENT BINARY: Custom SYSTEM STATUS: Custom QUALCOM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
  5. Does anyone know how to get the HA and AAA shared passwords off the S3? I've tried with QDXM and all the others to no avail.... Thanks for your input.
  6. So I followed the steps for the Sprint method of rooting my phone. I loaded CW from ODIN and everything came up as "Passed!" when I got to the next step of going into recovery to load the .zip I couldn't get phone into recovery mode. I did the Volume UP + Home + Power and held it for a good minute +. All I get is the Samsung logo with a tiny bit of blue text in upper left corner (like you would see if you went into recovery mode) but it is too quick to make out, then I get the the Galaxy S III logo for a second, and then it goes black until I release the buttons. It then boots normally. I'd really like to root this phone but my experience is limited to fumbling around with the Mesmerize a few times. Any help would be great!
  7. Greetings everyone, Soooo, I bought the S3 on July 17th in white (16gb). Having a few issues.... 1) I see what looks like ink blotches on my screen when the room I am in is completely dark and the background is black (not off, certain apps even like messaging have a black background). The ink spots are in a branching pattern and also appear as spots on portions of my screen. It is incredibly annoying... now i havent dropped my phone or anything and the screen is not shattered nor the led back panel, all the colors are fine except when i see black in a dark room, i downloaded an LED tester app and no issues with any other colors..... Ive contacted samsung as well as talked to the reps at my local US Cellular and none say this a problem that has been reported... but after researching online it seems that many people have this issue and they chalk it up to being an issue with AMOLED screens....screw that, i complained to the reps and also stated my other problems and they are giving me a new phone, problem is they have no stock and its been almost a week already =\... the problem with showing this issue is that the room has to be pitch black or close to and cameras cant pick up on it so its kinda hard to prove, a buddy has a very high end camera that is good in low lighting so i will try adn upload a pic if i can manage to pull it up on it. Problem 2) My battery heats up like crazy, seems like i have pretty crappy battery life even with my wifi off and no apps running in the background. When i use an app such as my music player, within 30 seconds its already warm, and within 2 mins its hot, not to the point of being burning but enough to bug me while its in my pocket warming up my leg =\... Problem 3) ALL my music sounds scratchy, this is annoying, its not the music files because its the same sd card i had in my Galaxy S1 and they are crystal clear, ive played with sound modes but none fix it, I download only high quality mp3s Problem 4) whenever i hook up earphones/headphones/or auxillary device, my right speakers seem to cut off every now and then, i have to readjust the cords in order for them to work, which means the jack is bad seeing as how i have 3 different devices showing it, as well as they show no issue with my other mp3 players... As you can guess, I am very upset by these issues, granted the phone is amazing and i love samsung, its just annoying having to put up with this junk... at least im getting a new one when they come in stock, just thought id share this for others having the same issues.
  8. Samsung Galaxy Slll

Can any one with credentials shed any light on the possibility of the Slll coming to USCC. http://www.theverge....pcs-us-cellular
