Good Afternoon (EST), I've been a USCC customer for well over 5 years now and I am just tired of the contract phone renewals. I am near the end of my contract and have been looking for an upgrade from my moto x (2013) phone. I am interested in going to the Nexus 6 but the non contract price of $660 is crazy talk to me when it goes for $499 on Google Play Store. I have been going round and round with the local official USCC store about this phone being bought from Google Play and put on their network though. There are posts on here saying it will work on the USCC network, google's literature says it will work on USCC, and other forum sites say it will work on USCC as well. The rep on the USCC tech support line says it will work but only "some apps or features" and those are the not carrier specific ones....its from google, who isn't a carrier so what apps could they possibly be speaking of, and that to get it working I will need to go to the local store for activation and acquiring of a SIM card. Well go to the store I can handle. Yesterday I went to the local store near my work. Yea that went well... It took a lot not to yell at the "wireless consultant" behind the table. She says the phone unlocked from google play will not work on their network and that I needed to listen to what she was saying. Then yelled "I am not trying to argue with you sir but you're wrong" which didn't sit well with me when everywhere online, as well as their 1-800 number claims it will work. I called the 1-800 number when I got back to the car and verified again that tech support at USCC claims it will work and I just need a SIM card. Today I called the same USCC store in town and got a different lady. Hoping I would have luck this time I asked her the same question. She told me the same story the lady yesterday did. I told "I'm sorry ma'am but you are incorrect according to the tech support at USCC as well as Google's product page" which she replied with "sir don't tell me I'm wrong when you are the one that called me and asked me the question. ok?" I asked her if she could just place a SIM card in it and try but she said they don't have a technician anymore and don't have any SIM cards to try. I realized I wasn't getting anywhere so I promptly just said thank you and hung up. So today I called the small store near my house that is just an authorized dealer. They first said that the USCC Nexus 6 is the only one that will work because it has specific software on it that makes it possible to interface with their network. I then told her my findings online as well as what Google states about the phone and all I needed was a nano SIM and have them activate the phone. She agreed it would work and to bring it in. I don't have the phone yet as I'm concerned about buying it and it not working. Has anyone else bought the unlocked model from Google Play themselves and put it on the USCC network? I have never been treated this way by the store near my work and I have never had this kind of issue getting a phone before...
Hello! I'd like to run a 4.4.2 Google Play Edition rom on my USC GS4. I want a stock googleish 4.4 rom, with the Samsung camera drivers. The Google Play rom has been ported from ATT/Tmobile to Verizon. This is the rom: http://galaxys4root.com/verizon-galaxy-s4-roms/google-play-edition-rom-with-android-4-4-2-kitkat-for-verizon-galaxy-s4/ The rom will not boot if I flash it on my phone (I've tried). It goes into a locked download mode, and I have to flash something else to make it boot again. Could I use a ROM converter to make it work, such as the one here? http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/4634-sprintverizont-mobileatt-to-uscc-rom-converters/ If that won't work, is there anything that would, or might?
