I've been with US Cellular in Waterloo, Iowa for about six years now and generally I have only positive comments. I get signal (almost, read on) everywhere and customer service has been pretty solid as far as customer service goes. I've moved recently though, and at my new place, I get almost no service. I've found one sweet spot in my kitchen where I can usually keep a call connected. Going outside does not increase signal strength. I lose calls left and right, let alone making calls. I have to wave my phone above my head to get a text to send. US Cellular does not offer femtocells or signal boosters of any kind. They suggested I call into their customer service and see what they can do for me. The store rep thought they would probably (maybe) try to replace my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 2) and if that didn't work, possible let me out of my contract without a cancellation fee (since I have a year left) after a tech checked the service in my area. Using Sensorly, this is the 3G coverage in my area: And here's 4G: And here's the closest US Cellular tower that I know of. It can only be about a mile and half away, tops. So here's my questions: 1) Is there any signal booster that I can buy that actually works? 2) Is there anything I can do to improve my signal? 3) If I am to switch carriers, who would you recommend? I'm leaning towards Sprint currently.
