  1. USCELLULAR SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 AND SLIMROMS GPS FIX FOR D2USC - SLIMKAT 4.4.4 8.20 WEEKLY... GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS! I have been on the last few 8.xx weeklies of slimkat and recieving cell service/signal and mobile data only after flashing imoyeson's leankernel V9.17, but getting no GPS functionality whatsoever. It was my understanding that to fix this, we would have to factory reset, format system, wipe cache and dalvik. Then, install the factory touchwiz rom from uscellular, get a GPS fix and install the slimkat 8.16 weekly or newer. For arguments sake, and for my sanity (didn't have a factory uscellular zip) - I performed the following and am currently getting cell service, mobile data and an accurate GPS Fix! 1. Factory reset, format system, wipe cache and dalvik 2. Installed Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.7.2.1-WEEKLY-6080.zip 3. Installed Slim_full_gapps.4.4.4.build.7.x-187.zip 4. Setup WIFI connection, turned on GPS (google maps was already installed and did not setup Gmail account) ** Cell service, mobile data and an accurate GPS Fix working great (after stepping outside my metal office building) ** 4. Performed a WIPE CACHE AND DALVIK ONLY 5. Installed Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.8.20-WEEKLY-8135.zip 6. Installed Slim_full_gapps.4.4.4.build.8.x-385.zip 7. Booted up and setup GMAIL Account without Backup and Restore option 8. Had to run PLAY STORE and accept agreement to INSTALL GOOGLE MAPS (was not on device for some reason) * I did run GPS TEST and cleared AGPS then Updated AGPS before installing MAPS, but I am not sure this did anything at all * ** At this point I had no Cell service/signal or mobile data (a known issue with Slimkat 8.x versions ** 9. Turned on Location services (left mode at hi-accuracy), stepped outside and started Google Maps 10. GOT AN ACCURATE GPS FIX! 11. Rebooted recovery 12. Installed Imoseyon's Leankernel for KitKat 9.17 - lk_s3aosp_kitkat-v9.17.zip 13. Rebooted to system ** Cell service, mobile data and an accurate GPS Fix working great (after stepping outside my metal office building) ** Attached SCREENSHOTS and BUGREPORTS for our awesome developers - BUGREPORT 7.2.1.zip and BUGREPORT 8.20.zip bugreport 7.21.zipbugreport 8.20.zip

  4. I have a surprise for you S3 people. Here's a hint. Well now that the cat is out of the bag so to speak, I'll post my Unofficial CM 11 build for those that want to see CM 11 and KitKat 4.4. This is not a daily driver, so don't expect that! Post #4 is the post of things working, not working, and not tested: http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/5747-who-wants-to-see-something-really-really-awesome/?p=95743 Now, some of you may have heard of ART (Android RunTime) over Dalvik. ART can be enabled in Settings - Development. Your phone will reboot to switch from Dalvik to ART. Read about it here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/11/06/meet-art-part-1-the-new-super-fast-android-runtime-google-has-been-working-on-in-secret-for-over-2-years-debuts-in-kitkat/ Now there's an issue: Using 4.4 gapps breaks ART, and causes TONS of app force closing. You need to flash ODEXED gapps for ART to work properly. Those will be attached to this post. If you don't adjust from Dalvik to ART, flash any 4.4 gapps. There's a trick too, so read below. READ THE FOLLOWING BELOW IN ITS ENTIRETY PLEASE BEFORE FLASHING! TWRP recovery will NOT flash this, you'll need CWM 6.0.4.3 (you'll get errors with TWRP). The flashable CWM zip is the Touch version. Do this BEFORE wiping you data/factory reset. Reboot to CWM recovery. Make a backup of your current ROM with CWM recovery, this will make it much easier to revert back as CWM will not restore TWRP backups. Wipe wipe wipe! 4.3 to 4.4 is a big enough change where you CANNOT flash over. Don't do it. Do a factory reset, dalvik, cache, and /system wipes. Flash the 4.4 ROM. If you want to try ART out, DO NOT FLASH GAPPS YET! NOTE HERE: If you do NOT plan on enabling ART and want deodexed gapps for 4.4, please download PA's gapps from here and you can flash before rebooting: https://plus.google.com/u/0/107979589566958860409/posts/4seyYsrFtoz Reboot the phone, do the setup stuff. At this point if you want to enable ART, do so, and your device will reboot. Once rebooted, reboot to recovery and flash gapps. Log into Google and play around. Please don't post about ETA's for fixes and things like that, since this is a alpha/beta version of CM 11, the things not working are posted in Post #4. This is not meant to be a daily driver at this time. Disclaimer: #include/** Your warranty is now void.** I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, dead cats,* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.* YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will break it! * Act accordingly*/Thanks to: Cyanogen, Koush, CyanogenMod, and all device maintainers for their efforts and work in the custom ROM scene. Those guys work round the clock and tirelessly to fix bugs, add features, and make things run as smooth as possible. Paranoid Android for their Gapps package, and the work that they do for the custom ROM scene. Big thanks to jdlogan151 (Transformer Prime, Droid Incredible, XDA days) for the our brainstorming session. A great friend, and we've had some good times with more to come! If it wasn't for his impatience to run KK on his T-Mo S3 we wouldn't have it for our variant, so thanks again for the passion and drive buddy! JayRThemer (jayr0408 here at TUSCC) for giving me an FTP account for my Android files and work. Thanks for the place to upload them to! Downloads: Please download the official Nightlies now from the CyanogenMod Team, thanks guys! FLASHABLE_CWM_6.0.4.3_Touch_d2usc.zip
  5. First off, please thank TeamWin and Dees_Troy from TeamWin for providing this!! Show Dees_Troy some love by thanking him: @Dees_Troy TeamWin's site is located here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2 Now, I put the recovery image in a flashable zip, so this is flashable from ClockworkMod Recovery. I'll also provide the .img file for those (like myself ) who want to flash it using adb. Instructions for .img file using adb commands: Download Link to recovery.img file: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/121 1. With the phone booted normally, connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable. 2. Download the recovery.img file, and place it on the root of your internal /sdcard. This location is NOT negotiable, unless you want to change the command to point to the location you put the file. It should be at: /sdcard/recovery.img 3. Open a command prompt window, and change directory to where you keep adb at (it is in the Android SDK - Platform-Tools directory). 4. Now type in the following (thank you dtmetz for the post where this was taken)(NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU GET THE COMMANDS EXACTLY CORRECT! I RECOMMEND COPY/PASTING THE COMMAND FROM HERE DIRECTLY INTO YOUR COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW!!!): shell@android:/ $ sushell@android:/ # dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1820480+0 records in20480+0 records out10485760 bytes transferred in 2.408 secs (4354551 bytes/sec)shell@android :/sdcard # reboot recovery5. The phone will now reboot into TWRP 2.6.0.0 Recovery. There is also a .tar file for those that prefer using ODIN to flash a custom recovery. I've also made a flashable zip for those wanting to flash via recovery. NOTE: I have not personally tested it but it should work just fine. As always, flash at your own risk. FLASHABLE_TWRP_d2usc.zip
