Trying to get root, so I am downgrading the firmware, I have had nothing but trouble with it thus far, though. Any help would be appreciated. SM-G955U - US Cellular VersionG955USQS3CRE2Bootloader Version 3Android 8.0.0History of the phone, tried rooting quite a while ago, softbricked it, then went back to stock rom no problem. Flash forward a few months later, used the SamFail and PartCyborgRom method to have root, did not have mobile data, though, so I went back to stock, again. I was told after a bit that updating the modem would have fixed that issue, but oh well. Now, I want to use the SamFail mehtod to have root again, and fix the modem issue in the phone. I am trying to downgrade the firmware so that this will work. However nothing is working properly.List of all firmwares I have tried:USC-G955USQU1AQDE-20170505162155USC-G955USQU1AQD9-20170421124057SM-G955U_1_20170504154313_jk5541apkz_facSM-G955U_1_20170620081840_8g9ali6ocz_facSM-G955U1_1_20170428100826_id2grime7e_facI have uninstalled the Samsung Drivers, rebooted and reinstalled, same for ADB. I have enabled USB Debugging. I can not enable OEM Unlock, locked bootloader. For the Odin settings I have tried loading just AP. Then All of them. Then everything except for BL. Then all except for CSC.The options I have checked are Auto Reboot and F. View this post in a browser. Emphasis on warnings is very important. If you do not understand the risks and do not follow instructions, you will break your phone and it may not be recoverable. WARNING: You may not downgrade back to previous stock Motorola firmware. This can result in a soft brick, and in some instances a hard brick. Read instructions carefully. ..UPDATED 10.23.2015.. 5.1 with Stagefright Patch Firmware link: http://upload.teamuscellular.com/468 Flashing instructions: Do download the Motorola Device Manager if you have not installed the Motorola drivers to your machine yet, it's an easy way to get them installed correctly. Download: https://motorola-glo...tail/a_id/88481 1. Download and extract the 5.1 image to a folder. (download: http://upload.teamuscellular.com/468 ) 2. Download mfastboot-v2 and extract its contents to the exact same folder as the files you extracted from the image zip. (download: https://mega.co.nz/#!JtJimDbA!jdujmp4WUXbgRfyNCtNARXyLNuNGRKoEdYtIMwaJNBQ) 3. Boot phone into Bootloader (turn off, hold power button + volume down for 4-5 seconds, release buttons) 4. Open command prompt. Use the 'cd' command to change your directory to the folder where your files are. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ To make this more simple, I usually copy the folder we made in steps 1&2 to a folder right on the C:\ drive called back2stock, such as C:\back2stock. Then there is only one cd command: cd back2stock You don't have to do this though, you can use cd command to navigate to your folder wherever you put it. It's up to you, but I described the easy way. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm assuming nobody wants to re-lock the bootloader. If you want this, look it up. It's easier than unlocking. Repeat: this method does NOT lock your bootloader. 5. In command prompt, enter the following commands EXACTLY AS THEY ARE TYPED BELOW IN THE CODE BOX. Press Enter after each line. They may take some time to flash, so be patient with each and wait for your cursor to return to normal before continuing with the next command. mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7 mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8 mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin mfastboot.exe erase modemst1 mfastboot.exe erase modemst2 mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn mfastboot.exe erase cache mfastboot.exe erase userdata mfastboot.exe reboot The phone should now reboot. Note it may take a few minutes longer than usual to complete the first boot. If you are CURRENTLY on 4.4.4 or 5.0.2, you may use the legacy firmwares below to restore stock software. The only difference in fastboot commands is there are less <sparsechunks> to flash. If you require assistance, please comment! DO NOT DOWNGRADE! If you are unsure of your current version, please ask for help! It's much easier to answer some questions for you than to try to help you fix a broken phone! Attached files are legacy firmwares for reference only DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE TO 4.4.4 FROM 5.0.2 OR 5.1. You WILL break your phone. 5.1 (no Stagefright patch) Firmware Link: http://upload.teamuscellular.com/9ic 5.0.2 Firmware link: http://upload.teamuscellular.com/9ib USC_XT1093_4.4.4_KXE21.187-43_cid9_CFC.xml.zip
Alright so tl;dr right here: I tried to root my phone and I really didn't know what I was doing. I'm on Samsung Galaxy SIII, and now all I get is a startup message that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" I'm 100% certain that I'm not the only post on here who has had this problem. The thing is, is that I'm not tech savy so I have no idea what all the post are meaning and not only that, but I'm needing someone to guide me through this step by step "unbricking your phone: for dummies" please. Okay long story (with details (and if you need anymore, just tell me!)) So last night I tried using Odin 3.04 to flash a rom to my SIII. It was my first time ever flashing and I was like why not give it a shot (I know how bad of an idea this was without supervision, I know it was bad I just need help getting it undone now) and evidently it was the wrong rom because now I'm stuck in the aforementioned page. I downloaded kies (I tried both regular Kies and Kies 3) and it won't connect to either (best buy told me it wouldn't connect because it was rooted and samsung won't recognize non-samsung software). It will connect to Odin still. I've tried downloading other roms to place over the wrong rom and it wasn't good, either, because my phone is still in a bricked mode. I can get in the download mode still (by power button + volume down + home button and then volume up) but that's about all I know. I just need my phone to work again, I don't care if I have to start back over and lose all my data all I want is a working phone. Please help. This is killing me. Again, I need all the terms in the most simple forms that you can put them, please.
