  1. Do iPhones get some sort of preferential treatment on US Cellular's network? Does the network see them differently from other smartphones? I ask because I recently traveled to northern Wisconsin with a friend who is also on US Cellular. I use a Nexus 5x and my friend uses an iPhone 6+. My friend was able to get occasional data usage: facebook messenger occasionally worked away from WiFi, multimedia messages were sent and received. I was unable to do any of these things until we were nearly back into Iowa. Why would the data signal be stronger to my friend's phone than mine?
  2. Iphone 6s and 6s+

Us Cellular will carry the iphone6 and 6+ in all colors and storage options. I think online pre-ordering starts today (9-12). Stores will be selling them on the 25th. No word yet on when we get the display models tho . Its nice to see that we wont be far behind other carriers.
  3. I read on U.S. Cellular's facebook page that U.S. Cellular will activate an iPhone that is bought as unlocked from an Apple store or apple store online. I talked to someone on the live chat about it and they said no they could only activate an iPhone from Verizon and some other carrier. On Apple's website it shows that any unlocked iPhone can be used on any GSM or CDMA carrier. Does anyone know if I can activate it or not?
  4. USCC iPhone LTE speed tests

Hey all, I didn't see a topic on this yet. I was just curious if some iPhone users would post speed tests while on LTE. Given that the iPhone uses cellular band LTE I;d just be curious to see how it is holding up versus the 700 mhz network of King Street. Where I work there is still no 4G so I went into a coorperate store and played with a 5s and ran a basic speed test on dslreports and the connection was quite lackluster. Just curious to see how the 800 mhz LTE network is holding up as I think that will be the band we ultimately end up using in this part of New Hampshire. Thanks guys.
  5. Here is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.0-8.1, It works on all iOS devices. Its mostly just for developers and much isn't working correctly yet but you can get a head start on jailbreaking. Cydia will not be installed, There is a way to download and add cydia to you iPhone manually but it is pretty complicated, ill add a link to a tutorial. This jailbreak is only for windows for now until Pangu team makes a mac version, they will add cydia in their next update as well probably. Download link from the website: Tutorial from, Note, this jailbreak does not install Cydia yet. Check back for the Cydia tutorial. Step 1: Perform a fresh restore of iOS 8.1 on your device with iTunes Step 2: On your iOS device go to Settings → iCloud → Find My iPhone, and disable Find My iPhone Step 3: On your iOS device Go to Settings → Passcode, and disable the Passcode Lock Step 4: Install iTunes on your Windows machine, and ensure that iTunes recognizes your iOS device when you connect it to your computer. This is vital. Step 5: Download the Pangu tool from our downloads page and save it to your desktop Step 6: Right click on the Pangu tool, and select Run as administrator → Yes Step 7: Uncheck the box on the Pangu tool to prevent necessary software from installing on your iOS device Step 8: Wait until the Pangu tool recognizes your connected iOS device and click the blue jailbreak button Step 9: Be patient as the jailbreak process completes, and then launch the Pangu app on your iPhone Step 10: Check back for our Cydia installation tutorial to install Cydia and download tweaks and apps Pangu8_v1.0.1-2.exe
  6. Hello, I'm from Morgantown WV, and for the last week or so I've been experiencing pathetic data speeds over LTE on my iPhone 5s (173ms ping, .03mbps down, and .05mbps up). I have tried resetting the cellular settings, calling *228, and I've restarted the phone and removed the SIM card multiple times. If anyone has any suggestions that I could use before I give in to dialing 611 and starting that never ending beareucratic process, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help.
  7. Heads up all - if you get a new iPhone with US CELLULAR - you will LOOSE your Voice mail Indicator!!! Or anything notifying you that you have a voice mail !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you use cellular data you have to have your WIFI OFF and your Cellular Data ON then you get voice mail notifications. Both Apple and US CELLULAR are refusing to make any exceptions - that is the way that it works. So in the OLD days if you have a voice mail waiting for you - you get a notification. Now the ONLY way that you will get that Notification is if you have DATA turned on. ( and your wifi off) So please beware that the new iPhone Lacks a feature that was very important - the ability to get voice mail notification(s) with your cellular data turned off - Now this may not be a problem for some people - a lot of people live their lives with Cellular data turned ON - Old phones had the ability to give you a notification that a voice mail was waiting for you - but the new iPhone uses visual voice mail - a feature that CAN NOT BE DISABLED - so be CAREFUL when getting an iPhone and KNOW THAT YOU WILL LOOSE VOICE MAIL NOTIFICATIONS with cellular data off !!!!!!!!!! Please people, I want some Input here as to whom else is having problems with this? I think that US CELLULAR did not think this through - every bit of DATA used costs toward your usage - so if you have say a 300 Mb account - and get hundreds of voice mails you will use up your data real quick. PLEASE GIVE FEED BACK HERE - Of problems with Voice mail on iPhones with US CELLULAR........... I Feel a bit dupped - like I have LOST a feature - unless I PAY more for it - IE use data! I am STILL waiting for a supervisor to call me from US CELLULAR - they where " to busy" to talk to me today........ and will call back within 24 - 48 hrs ( the 4th day of calling and waiting for over 25 Min on hold!) I am just being a dork here ? Or should this just work to send you a notification over cellular like a text message or something that you have a voice mail? My OLD PHONE gets my notification that I have a voice mail waiting for me! <-- OOps I literally have spent hours on the phone with US CELLAR - They are nice - but their tech support people do not have an answer - other than to turn off your WIFI and turn on Cellular Data! What a CROCK - Perhaps US CELLULAR was NOT ready to carry the iPhone - I know that I have been waiting YEARS for this -but loosing a service may be to much for me - I have not made a decision yet - but may go back to my old phone - I can not miss knowing that there is a voice mail waiting for me !!! Anyone else having issues missing voice mail notifications? ? ? We need to get as many people as possible involved here - EDIT - I lowered the font size for they where to busy to talk to me today - Also here is some MORE info - it CAN be done - generally this is the CARRIER's ability - ( or lack thereof cause they are not ready) And: - Ill post this as a NEW thread - and not edit this any longer....
  8. I have anxiously been awaiting the arrival of the iPhone here at USCell, only to call my local office today and be told that in order to obtain the iphone at the promotional prices you will be forced to upgrade to a new shared data plan...I was speechless, explained how I've been holding this renewal since the announcement of the iPhone in May and I was simply told if I want it I will be forced to pay retail price, or come off of my great family central plan and 5gb of data per month...disappointing to say the least.

  12. 4Q Earnings Call Statements

I'd put this in the News forum if I thought we could take it all at face value. Alas, from Mary Dillon, President/CEO: "Now to encourage migration to the network we planned to introduce a wide range of new 4G LTE devices in 2013 as part of a robust competitive portfolio that includes a top Android device, a new Windows 8 LTE device, multiple connected devices as well as value-priced feature phones. And we’re monetizing the rapid increase in data use with pure data pricing designed to satisfy light to heavy data customers, while moving to shared data offerings later in the year." Later, in response to how USCC is planning in 2013 to address continually high churn and how the iPhone relates to such: "Certainly I would start by saying we’re really pleased with our add growth on the postpaid side and the overall net add growth on the prepaid side but churn is not at a level that we need it to be longer term and there’s multiple factors that certainly and we’re working on many of them and certainly the iPhone is more of the drivers of churn. We know that our customer satisfaction scores remains strong but really competitive in the marketplace in many ways. So what we’re doing really is, I’d say, focusing on making sure that we offer great other iconic devices that we brought to the market this year at the same time as our competitors like the Galaxy S3 and the Motorola ELECTRIFY M and then we’re also continuing to expand our distribution points, be where people want to shop as well as we’re using some pretty sophisticated analytic tools to get at other drivers of churn and put CapEx in place that we think are helping to improve it. So we’re going to continue to work at reducing that churn certainly and that’s a key objective for us in 2013." Apologies, but I can't make sense of that. Especially the first paragraph. I think she said "churn is too high, iPhone is part of the cause, and maybe we will work on that, but we have good customer service. We are focusing on offering what we have now and spending money on 4g, and probably doing other things to reduce churn than buy iPhones. Finally, there's this: "We’ll also be launching a wide variety of new products and services throughout the year including expanded mobile payments, parental controls and a wireless home phone replacement." Any other interpretations? Happiness about WP8? iPhone predictions based on these comments? Info on the home phone replacement?
  13. iPhone 5 4G LTE

Any chances when the iPhone 5 releases and with the compatibility of 4G LTE we will see it available for USCC?
