  1. Do iPhones get some sort of preferential treatment on US Cellular's network? Does the network see them differently from other smartphones? I ask because I recently traveled to northern Wisconsin with a friend who is also on US Cellular. I use a Nexus 5x and my friend uses an iPhone 6+. My friend was able to get occasional data usage: facebook messenger occasionally worked away from WiFi, multimedia messages were sent and received. I was unable to do any of these things until we were nearly back into Iowa. Why would the data signal be stronger to my friend's phone than mine?
  2. Marshmallow & CDMA

So I found myself in a fringe service area the other day, and while it showed a 4G connection, my data was awful, often non existent. No problem... I've been in poor 4G areas before, and the data solution is just to switch to CDMA Only under network settings. Unfortunately, it looks like the option to switch to CDMA Only was removed in the Marshmallow update. Do I was stuck with basically no data all day when a friend on USE that didn't do the update had perfect 3g. Is there another way to force 3G, or is this yet another reason to put in the column to switch to another carrier?
  3. SIM Card corrupted!

Is there any way to edit the parameters on a SIM card? Mine got corrupted and is missing the following info; Phone number, Subscriber ID, Sm country ISO, SIM Operator, Network Country ISO, Network Operator, Network Operator Name, Network Type. I have all this information saved elseware so is it possible to just program it back in? The wierd thing is that I still get 3G, not sure about 4G (not in my area). In anything but the stock ROM the connection square in the quick settings menu just has 3G with 3 bars, I get data but no phone or MMS, and the Carrier spot says empty. I flashed my phone's modem to the one for 4.3+ to get the new networking stuff but this didn't solve the problem, I tried the card in another phone and it told me the same thing. SIM card doesn't connect regardless of kernel or ROM. I'm currently using the SCH-R970.
  4. I've been testing out a lot of roms lately, trying to see any rom released recently could pry me off of 4.2.2 liquidsmooth. However, after I flashed from 4.2.2 liquid to 4.4.2 slimkat, I NOTICED (I had flashed some other roms prior to slimkat) that I could only access US Cellular's network while connected to wifi. I can make calls and send texts with wifi on, but as soon as I turn it off, my network disappears and I am left with only grey bars, no blue ones (I am in 4.2.2). No texts, no calls, and no LTE, even though a useless grey "4g" symbol does pop up on top of my grey network bars for a slit-second a couple times a minute when I'm off wifi. (See pics) I have tried numerous different methods of fixing this issue, from flashing 4.3 TW stock, to 4.4.2 and 4.2.2 factory resets in TWRP, to 4.4.2 and 4.2.2 factory resets from the Backup/Restore option in settings, to calling *228, to following this guy's directions all to no avail. I am going to leave my battery and my sim card out of my phone while I sleep. If my network doesn't work when I wake up, I really don't know what else to do guys.
  5. I came across this doing some reading today, and thought I would pass it on. This was in reference to users not being able to "hold" 4G. I do not actually live in a 4G area so I cannot test "results", but it may help others. Using the dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* As I understand, BE VERY CAREFUL IN THIS AREA OF YOUR PHONE - YOU COULD BREAK IT!!!!!! - My phone on stock was set to "LTE/CDMA/EvDO", but the ROM I was running was set to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL). Changing this may help the connectivity. Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346623
