I'm not sure that this is the appropriate forum for this question, but here goes: Why is Walmart even a partner for US Cellular? I'm asking because I tried to upgrade to an S5 on my existing line this weekend at Walmart, and couldn't do it. The phone was on special, with free activation on upgrades and new lines. Plus, I had $70 in gift cards to use. The problem (and I saw it on the screen) was that the clerk checkmarked my line for an upgrade, because it was eligible. When he tried to add the MEID of the new S5, it kept flagging it as a new line of service. He tried to call the USCC rep, but he wasn't available because it was the weekend. The Walmart guy said that they're hardly ever successful with USCC transactions because of the problem with the system. So, I went to another area Walmart to do the same thing, hoping that it was just a problem with the other store's system. Nope, of course not! She encountered the exact problems the first rep did. She apologized to me several times because she felt bad for not being able to help me. However, the USCC rep is not available for help on the weekends when more phones are sold. So, of course, I had to go to a corporate store, where they had just laid-off the manager I was used to dealing with. My question is: If Walmart's system doesn't talk to USCC's system properly, why are they even a partner?
