soft bricked my sg3 sch-r530u

47 posts in this topic

okay, i'm really hoping someone can help me out, i've searched over two days on the forums and the internet and eveything is so fragmented to my issue that i've decided to post it and see if someone can help me.

So here's my back story.

i have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-R530, plain and stock with US Celluar on the Cricket network

the other day i decied to root it, and did so succsfully i might add and had NO issue, didn't install any apps except root checker app that allowed the superuser to acces

then i downloaded this stupid EZ-Unlocker up to unlock the boot loader, not realizing it was for VERIZON, so installed it, allowed superuser access and then launched the app and click unlock

and restarted the phone.

and then i got the error with the yellow triangle "this phone is not a authorized verison device....." you know the rest. so i figure i would just restore the phone to stock. using odin 3.4 with the stock r530 rom from their website.

So i do that, download the latest rom, launch odin and try to write the rom to the phone but FAILS EVERYTIME

So i go into downoad mode and here's what it says on my screen

ODIN MODE

Product Name: SCH-I535

Custom Biunary Download : Yes (3 Counts)

Currenty Binary: Samsung Offical

System Status; Custom

Qualcomm Secureboot: Disable

Qualcomm Secureboot: Non-Secure Binary

Weird thing is the Phone is a SCH-R530!! that's not my phone!!

two things, i know it's not bricked.

and i can still get into recovery reboot but when i go to store factory default and launch the phone it just hangs on the samsung galaxy loading screen

CAN anyone help out or explain this step by step, i'm fairly new but am familar. any help please i'm now down for 3 days :(:(

Did you try the super easy Samsung swupdater tool that you can download right from their site. It works well and I would give that a shot next. Download and unzip and run the exe file to install the program. Open program and follow instructions.

If it's broken...beat it into submission until it works!

Download the lg1 Odin file from our download section here. If you can boot to download, all is not lost. You should be able to get back to lg1 stock.

What???? I am not sure what you are doing but you may be doing more harm than good. Download the below file to your computer. Unzip it. Run the exe file and install the updater. The program will tell you what to do. If you can't download this file from my drip box, then you have other issues. This is the us cellular version. I am not sure what you have on your phone stock and where you got it from(uscelllular or cricket or whatever).

Maybe try flashing the insecure boot image that we originally flashed to root the phone. I am glad you can still get into recovery though.

Only other thing I can think of before heading to asleep is what I mentioned before. Use adb to push the insecure boot image we used to root the phone. That only takes a couple minutes to do. I will check back in the am. Good luck!

Flash the stock bootchain VRALF2 via PDA in Odin: Download - Mirror

Flash the stock rom VRALF2 via PDA in Odin: Unzip first!

I'm wondering about having you try that and get a "stock" VZW bootloader and then try flashing LG1. I'm wondering if the rooted bootloader is causing an issue. Worth a shot in my opinion.

Now try flashing the stock us cellular one but don't do the second step maybe. Which recovery do you have by the way? If you can flash the us cell version of the first file and get into recovery and flash cwm and then maybe skip right to flashing a ROM. This is kinda hard since we are not there. What has happened when you try to flash a new ROM in the past.

A couple of things here:

You are using stock USC SGS3 on Cricket, did Cricket have to flash/do anything to make it work with their network?

You know that the ONLY SGS3 that had a locked bootloader is Verizon's version of the SGS3 right?

When you say "so i figure i would just restore the phone to stock. using odin 3.4 with the stock r530 rom from their website.", who is "their" site? What was the website you downloaded/tried this from? Was it a Verizon stock ROM of some sort?

Something happened here, as your phone thinks it is a Verizon device. It's either the bootloader that was flashed, or Verizon software was flashed at some point.

That is what I was trying g to say rmarkwald. If the stock boot loader could be flashed, just go from their. This is a really odd one where we only have half of the information we need and no phone in front of us. I am pretty sure this can be fixed but we will see.

Also sao33. In your previous attempt to flash the lg1 file it didn't fail. It does take a while to flash back to the stock. Did you try waiting a but longer. It took a while for me. Consider trying to let it go to see if it actually fails, not you pull the plug.

If it's broken...beat it into submission until it works!

Very true. Hopefully it is only the bootloader that is screwed up, and flashing the stock USC will fix it. You don't think partition tables or anything got screwed up...where he'd need a PIT file?

Okay so i tried flashing the stock LG1 from here, and no luck just gets the same error as before

Secure Check Fail : boot

Now try flashing the stock us cellular one but don't do the second step maybe. Which recovery do you have by the way? Same thing i tried flashing the stock US Cellular one from this site. at this point the phone can't go into recovery mode it gives me the following error

"Firmware updrage encountered an issue. Please select recover mode in Kies & try again"

If you recalled last night i updated the boot loader from here

Flash the stock bootchain VRALF2 via PDA in Odin: Download - Mirror

then tried to flash it with the stock sch-i535 rom from here

Flash the stock rom VRALF2 via PDA in Odin: Unzip first!

it just hung, and did not work.

i can still get into download mode.

i have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-R530, plain and stock with US Celluar on the Cricket network

then i downloaded this stupid EZ-Unlocker up to unlock the boot loader, not realizing it was for VERIZON, so installed it, allowed superuser access and then launched the app and click unlock

Something happened here, as your phone thinks it is a Verizon device. It's either the bootloader that was flashed, or Verizon software was flashed at some point.

If i'm correct i think CriKet is a sister company of us cellular.

and secondly i only realized that after that the EZ-Unlocker was for the VERIZON SCH-I535, this was after i ran it and rebooted.

Third when the error came up saying that "this phone is not an authorized to be on the version network..." i tried to restored with a stock sch-r530 from this site the LG1 using Odin.

When that didn't work then i tried stock Verzion rom. it was then i notice my phone in download mode says it's an sch-i535, when on the back of device and i know this that it's an sch-r530

so at this point i can get into download mode, phone won't boot into recovery mode, i get this error "Firmware updrage encountered an issue. Please select recover mode in Kies & try again"

i beileve there is still hope any help appreciated.

Thanks again everyone in advance
