ArrrGh! Difficulty loading Cyanogenmod to a Samsung Galaxy S3, tried everything, now we're lost.

Recommended Posts

We enjoy Android for what it is. Open source goodness. We're coming from Verizon with a Droid Incredible 2. Had no problems with the process of rooting and installing Cyanogenmod which we loved for zero bloatware. After all we would be just fine with android stock out of the box like god intended but for whatever reason few companies get that the customer’s liberty is paramount, not their ability to strike padded deals over drinks and golf games…not that drinks or golf games are bad, mind you.

Admitedly I am pretty much a n00b and no matter how much I read (2 days now on this phone) a lot of this just doesn’t make sense. I was hoping someone here sees an inherent problem or can help me figure this out with a step by step. We're trying to get this either booting in to Cyanogenmod...or back to stock with no counts so I can take it back and just buy a friggin pantech.

(kidding about the pantech btw)

We’ve tried just about everything to install either the Cyanogen nightlys or the new monthly. We have root. Wiped data/Factory reset + wipe cache + wiped Dalvik Cache, install from zip a compressed file from HERE via both internal memory and SD card (formatted both ways) but we get this message every time:

Installing update…

Assert failed getprop(“ro.product.device”) == “

d2usc” || getprop(“ro.build.product) ==”d2usc”

E:Error in /sdcard/cm-10-20121027-NIGHTLY-d2usc.

Installation aborted.

Try using rom manager. Its as easy as pie. Open rom manger, it will ask you to install cwm, pick our phone and let it install, then pick download rom, then pick cm, then the nighlty you want. It will give you the choice to wipe whatever you want then install. Let us know how it works for you.

You need this recovery to load up any aosp jellybean rom. http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/2369-recovery-cwm-6012-for-d2usc-updated-w-adb and this link to go back to stock http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/2669-how2-return-to-stock-for-warranty-or-replacement/ instructions are in both threads.

Sorry neither of your links work. Thank you, though.

Wow thanks! This worked like a charm. Figures it was something stupid like using an old CWM!

Curious for future reference, where do they post current versions?

Normally in the downloads section of the forum. They try to keep it up to date with the latest releases.

My bad. Reply & links were posted with Tapatalk & worked. I'll fix them just in case you need to refer to either one.

EDIT: MY LINKS ABOVE ARE FIXED
