I know I am going to get flamed for this but here go's.  I need a nandroid backup of the USCC r960 Mega.  I rooted my mega and did a backup.  The next step which I forgot to do was transfer my backup to the cloud or hard drive.  I installed a rom that was for the 9200 version thinking that if the method for rooting the 9200 worked just fine for the r960 maybe the rom would be fine, if not I always had the nan backup.  Well murphy is alive and well when it installed it somehow garbled both my phone and my nan backup.  I can still get into my recovery just fine but when recovering it says the backup is corrupt.  So right now I am back to my Mesmerize and sad as hell.  I believe if I could get a fresh backup of this mega I could raise it from the dead.  I can provide a google drive to upload if someone is so kind.  Thanks in advance for any help.

If that's the gsm version I don't think a nandroid will help you.

You need a full Odin package at least I believe.

Sounds like you indeed need an odin package.

And the problem with that is, there is no odin package for this device yet.  What would a nandroid be missing?

A nandroid wouldn't replace a modem or radio - its a full backup, sure, but i don't think it would backup those things broken by using a gsm ROM. That's like rule one of flashing Roms. Gsm never works unless its SPECIFICALLY ported that's why I don't think that even Odin alone is going to fix it. It might. I don't know. But I do know that nandroids do not backup modems - not in my experience anyway. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

I know it is a shot in the dark but I would like I would still like to try it just for doo-doos and giggles lol.. I know I may wind up having to wait for a Odin stock or mod rom but I can always hope right? lol

A GSM ROM is the reason the modem is messed up. A gsm ROM uses an entirely different method to work, thus, making any CDMA phones that use one, without a proper port, a very expensive paperweight until its restored with Odin. If you don't know the differences between CDMA and gsm Roms, read everything here twice, and don't flash anything until you do. This is exactly why we say "if you didn't find it here, you probably shouldn't use it" Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

You won't get any ota software as is.

You need to fully restore it. That's your only option. Either a full Odin package (someone has to make and upload one) or kies, which SHOULD fix it.

Try downloading Samsung kies and doing an emergency restore.

On a PC that is. You have to do that from a computer.

It should let you. You may or may not need to be in DL mode. I'm not sure - try it both ways. It will tell you if its recognized. NOW You are really in a bad spot if it doesn't correctly identify it as the uscc version, if it shows it as an i9200 - you'll need Odin, and there's no other option. Is it an Odin package or recovery zip?

Either way, if it unbricks I assume it has a modem... OP just needs to use it and doe a factory reset immediately... Then he may need to do a *228 - but that's all. Its worth a shot.

Is it a nandroid? If so it has personal info and I understand not posting it here - but if its just a stock image and has no personal info why not just post the link? If you don't want people downloading from your DB I'd be happy to upload it here - if you prefer. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
