Native Call Blocking/Recording?

Recommended Posts

They're vulgar, crude, and usually "cringe-y" - my wife says they're awkward to listen to because I mess with them in ways that are kinda...uhm... Idk, mean?

I just make crap up, usually has something to do with porn, and I spin it off however I can.

I'll up the bounty if someone wants to try this!

There has to be a way...

So instead of me naming the bounty, how about you name your price to do it, adding it to the NATIVE Google dialer, and we can negotiate.

So. Let's do it.

I've tried a bunch, none work the way I want.

WT had a mod that added the button to record them ON THE DIALER and thats what I want. But that was Samsung.

If it can be done I wanna know what it would take for it to be done.

TrueDialer and True Caller, work together and they are amazing. I'm not sure what database they use, but the caller ID functions are spectacular. Calls coming in will Identify if they are in the known data base of spammers and you can blacklist the calls, or add calls to the data base that aren't in there yet.

I call customers, hitting a link to their number on the work order, true dialer does a scan and tells me what their name is, phone service provider, a pic, if they have one as a profile somewhere..... Unbelievable!

Plus, they're free!

It's a total dialer replacement, right?

Yep. You can use it as your default dialer. The ONLY thing it doesn't have, that the default has is the panel with your most frequent calls, but a small trade off. The TrueCaller also integrates with your Messaging app to blacklist spam texts. There is an app, TrueMessenger, but I didn't like it so I went back to Textra, but still get the integration, including a popup window on every incoming text that gives you the message and the sender's details

I'll try it.

I just wish Google baked it into stock - the ability to block non-contacts I mean.

This app offers more than that, and sounds more promising - I will let you know!

Only gripe is that it's very invasive.

It wants to know every contact I have and share it with others (I realize that this is how its database grows) but...

Idk how comfortable I am with sharing that info, even mine.

Maybe I'm just weird, I would be happy with it if it didn't want to pop up after every call, or know everyone in my contacts - which is (IMO) counterproductive to my original problem - I know my contacts, I want them to call - but if its NOT a contact or not from my area I'd rather they just hit my VM or get the "not in service" message that GV had.

GV has its own bucket of issues - this does a similar job but better. Just wish it wasn't so needy with my info.

I figure my contacts have my info already, more or less, but I hear you. The trade off is worth it. I got a spam call today and the pop up said "318 users report this as spam" and had the company's name that was calling, on the other hand, I called a customer and after it did it's scan, gave me her name and a profile pic, which I searched on FB, found that pic in the search, clicked on her profileand learned a lot about her, her kids, husband, etc. THAT part scares me, although I, personally, have nothing to hide, but still...

...I'd be willing to bet that my avatar is all that can be found on me...

Lol. I don't have a FB anymore, haven't had one for nearly a decade.

Wonder if it would be able to identify me...

theyve since pulled it - they're not *still* available for some reason - BUT - I have the apks - how would i go about implementing them?  Install as per normal?  Would that "update" the system app rather than add another one?

Mine updated through the play store. Yup, just enable unknown sources and install over the top. It will update, not add another.

I looked but its still useless as ever.

All it did was add an additional setting to send calls from certain contacts directly to VM - which I could already do through the contacts app.

BUT

Ya see... That's the problem!

The blocking on the phone only works if you have the number saved as a contact.

GOD DAM* IT Google!

I can't save "anyone not a contact" as a freaking contact! It was a update to more easily access an already easy to access setting - which still is mostly useless since I can't know the number that hasn't called me yet.

I appreciate the heads up guys, I really do, but Google was peeing sitting down on this one. Hopefully they pulled it to ADD function to its blocking?

Idk. But I hope it ends up being able to do something it wasn't already capable of.

Ahh yeah, I thought one of my first smart phones had it built in to block unknown numbers. Crazy how its not built in these days.

Yay full access to phone, call logs, messages, contacts and storage, with full network access, in an app made in Russia. Makes me want to install it.
