Lollipop 5.1.1 Released For Nexus 6

Recommended Posts

My nexus 7 just updated to 5.1.1. Has the nexus 6 been updated to the same?

Sorry if you are already at 5.1.1, if so moderators please delete this thread.

Will see shortly if this update helps out my nexus 7...

The player has had that for weeks.

I don't know what officially changed but I don't think the phones will see the 5.1. 1 update. Just like they didn't see the 5.0. 2, they will probably just jump to 5.2.

I have no basis for saying that just a gut feeling.

Wonder what is on 5.0.2 that the nexus phones didn't get? I ask as that is what we are soak testing at the moment for the moto x 1st gen... We will be going to 5.1 sometime during the soak...

I think the updates went like this:

5.1.1 - non-phone Nexus

5.1 - Nexus phones/tabs

5.0.2 - Non-Nexus Motorolas

5.0.1 and 5.0 - non-motorola/Nexus phones

Then future update to:

5.2 - Nexus phones

5.1.x or 5.2 - Non-phone Nexus

5.1.x or 5.2.x - Non-Nexus Moto

5.1 - everything else

That's how I've kinda picked up on the trends. That's why I say the Nexus phones won't see 5.1.1 but would rather be put right on to 5.2 or a 5.1.x perhaps, however I doubt they'll have a 5.1.2+ in place of a larger, more comprehensive update.

I've been wrong before - I'll be wrong again, but that's just the feeling I get given that the N6 hasn't seen 5.1.1 and its been 2 weeks since its introduction to the nexus line.

Make sense? Lol. Maybe I'm crazy.

Makes sense.

I can say though this update hasn't crashed anything yet when before I was force closing crashed system apps a lot

Its technically only beneficial to T-Mobile users but, yes, it is an update.

Sadly... Does nothing for the system itself.

Any reason not to flash it? Since it say for t-mobile only on the factory image page. Just want to make sure nothing has changed(all images still work on all version of the phone)

It says T-Mobile only because the only changes (mostly) are for enabling WiFi calling for T-Mobile.

No other carrier does that - so the changes made only technically benefit them. I'm sire there's other changes - which is why I'm flashing it.

But it can't hurt anything. No matter what carrier you're on, it won't hurt it at all.

This reminded me I needed to download all of the factory images because I'm prone to breaking my phone lol.

I would flash it, but Chroma already has almost all of it merged. So it's counter productive lol.

Well, never mind.

It said it for about 10 minutes, and it's back to Roaming Indicator Off.

God d*** it Google.  FFS get your s**t together!
