You should use hangouts for sms  Makes things a lot easier in my opinion. BorNX any good way for my roommate who has an iphone to get sms on his PC? Besides running a hacked VM of OSX to get iMessage? -Yes I've done that haha

I'm not sure about iOS, of it were the other way around and he had an Android phone and an iMac then yes, but I don't know of any iOS apps that can access messages and sync across platforms. Except iOS to Mac, this is built in. But iOS to PC or Android or Chrome, I have no idea.

EvolveSMS is still going strong. PulseSMS is a separate project that allows SMS integration between all platforms - Chrome, tablet, web, and phone.

Interesting. Looking into it now. $6/year sounds cool.

Yeah, $0.0164/day is totally worth it for that functionality.

Had a fi rep make adjustments for me last night. He stated the map does not show USCC coverage yet. My USCC 5x and fi 5x have identical coverage everywhere I go (northeast iowa)

@mweba, are you still on fi? I'm in Eastern Iowa too and I think I'm ready to take the jump. May get a sim and test run it for awhile before I drop USCC. Do you need to drive over to a 641/515 area code to activate it?

Yes I still have it active. It's basically like being on USCC with the option of manually switching carriers. No, I activated mine in the 319 area with a 515 number.

319 numbers can't be transferred I don't think.

My 515 worked fine, but I've heard of others have no luck with 319.

I know you can't sign up with a 319 number. You can activate the 515 while being out of that are though. This I know for certain. The Fi specialist said that once the service is active, any number can be ported in. I can not confirm as I haven't tried to port in my USCC number yet.

Huh... I didn't know it would allow it. I saw on their forums that some numbers wouldn't work at all.

Maybe it was 641 area code? IDR for sure. I'd have to look.

Sorry for the confusion!

Interesting. So, if that is correct...I could activate under my Google Voice number (a 515 area code), then port my USCC number over? Hmm.

That is what I was told. Personally can not verify as I haven't ported over yet and would quiz a representative over that specific issue if I was you. Guess I'll find out in a month...

I'll be leaving my uscc family plan in a month or two and have been looking at fi for the monthly price (I only use 2gb per month, and travel domestic for work). Is it worth spending the dough for a 6P and getting fi?

The one plus 3t is a bad ass cheap phone with a good community, but I'd have to go ATT, which has crap service around lacrosse when I'm there

I have had good luck with service in most places. Only bad spot was near Yellowstone lake but it was a deep valley so not surprised.

I was 30 min south of Ashland and had service this winter which was cool.

6P is a great phone. Only small downsides are no wireless charging and hard to see the screen in the sun. The 5X screen looks great in the sun.

My friend tried that a year ago and they wouldn't let him port his 319 after 515 was activated. Hope it works now, @mweba

That's what I was hoping to hear! I spend a lot of time in Ashland, and most of the trip up is roaming or no signal. Never had wireless charging so I won't miss it :)
